Personal story

Eugène and Paulette are the children of friends from Normandy. The region suffered a lot during World War II and life was not easy, even several years after the war was over. The children must have come on holiday to get away from all that. This photograph was taken along the axis of the Grande Perspective in the gardens. Eugène is wearing the same suit as before the war, it’s a bit tight on him. He brought his binoculars along with him that day. In our picture album, we have pictures of their visits all around Paris during their stay: the Eiffel Tower, les Tuileries, etc. They posed with my mother, Micheline, and my aunt, Armande.
