In 1936, the substantial work that had been carried out thanks to the Rockefeller donations reached completion. The work had gone on for twelve years, from 1924 to 1936. On 30 June 1936, there was a celebration at the Palace in honour of the billionaire, who came to see the improvements carried out at the Queen’s Hamlet, the renovated roofs of the Palace, the restored Grand Trianon and its park, etc.
