Why share your souvenir photos?
Since the invention of photography, many photographers have sought to represent the many facets of Versailles. A large share of this production comes from visitors who are passionate amateur photographers seeking to immortalise their visit to the Estate with their friends and families. Today, the Palace of Versailles wants to bring together examples of these photographs.
Which photos?
The pictures we are looking for are those showing visitors at Versailles. They may be visitors who are alone, with their family, with friends, inside the Palace, the Trianon Palaces, Marie-Antoinette’s Estate, the gardens or the park. Traditional pictures developed from “silver-based” negatives, used until the early 2000s, are harder to find for the moment. More recent photos will comprise the archives of tomorrow, so share them with us, too.
How?
If you have digital photos or if you can scan your photos, you can post them directly on the Flickr group “Souvenir Photos of Versailles”. The method for doing this is explained in the following link: https://www.flickr.com/groups/versaillesfamille/rules/ Please indicate the location and the date (or period) of the photo shoots.
If you have photo archives that you think could contribute to this project, but you don’t have the technical resources to scan them, go to the Help section.
