Personal story

My grandfather Robert often came to the Palace of Versailles with his nieces, Marcelline and Renée. He was very keen on photography and his Sunday outings were often an opportunity to shoot some pictures. Here, Renée is posing in front of Marie-Antoinette’s Hamlet, which was easy to get to and was “wilder” than now. Other pictures taken that same day show that each of them posed in turn, with that nonchalant attitude, the attitude of a “star”. Robert worked in a fashionable hair salon, which is no doubt where he got his taste for fashion.
