Personal story

This film was made when we came to see the Grand Canal frozen over. I went sliding around, held up by my aunt Armande, my mother Micheline and my grandfather Robert. They often came to the gardens of the Palace but this was an exceptional event, one of the coldest winters of the century.

I have been coming to the Palace since I was a little girl, but mainly to the park at first. I began to take an interest in the inside of the Palace when they started restoration work in the 1970s. Before that, it was a cold, empty place, there wasn’t much to see. Today, I continue to bring my friends and family. I come for a stroll and to take photos, especially in winter when there are fewer visitors.
